Startup Picnic Venture Studio Seeks Technical Co-Founders for iZwily.com — ERP & AI Infrastructure for Publishing, Retail Fulfilment & Rights Operations
Deadline – 31 July 2026
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – 25 May 2026 — Startup Picnic Venture Studio is seeking technical co-founders and early technical builders for iZwily.com, a platform focused on building operational and financial infrastructure for publishing and intellectual property businesses.

The initial MVP is focused on:
- ERP workflows for publishers and distributors
- bookstore order fulfilment
- inventory and operational management
- invoicing and reconciliation
- royalty and contract workflows
- AI-assisted operational tooling
Unlike many early-stage startups, iZwily is being built from within an existing publishing and distribution ecosystem.
The founding team already operates within South Africa’s publishing industry through Bula Buka Publishers and other operations, with existing clients and operational workflows ready to onboard onto the platform.
Books and products connected to the ecosystem already move through major South African retail channels, including: Exclusive Books, Bargain Books, Van Schaik, Takealot and many others.
Why This Matters
Publishing contains many of the operational challenges found across broader rights-driven industries:
- multi-party transactions
- contracts
- royalties
- distribution
- reconciliation
- recurring payments
- operational coordination
We believe modern publishing and rights-based businesses require better operational infrastructure, particularly as AI increasingly changes how content and commerce operate.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for highly capable technical co-founders or senior technical collaborators interested in building infrastructure-scale systems.
Ideal experience includes:
- backend engineering
- ERP systems
- accounting or fintech infrastructure
- AI workflow automation
- SaaS platforms
- APIs and integrations
- operational workflow systems
- cloud infrastructure
Preferred technologies may include:
- Python
- Node.js
- TypeScript
- React / Next.js
- PostgreSQL
- AWS / Azure / GCP
We are particularly interested in builders who enjoy solving operational, systems, and workflow complexity — not just frontend applications.
The Opportunity
This is a founding-stage opportunity to help architect and ship the first MVP of iZwily inside a real operating ecosystem with active industry workflows and existing market access.
iZwily is being built as a global-first platform, designed to scale beyond South Africa into international publishing, retail, and intellectual property markets.
Selected technical co-founders will join as equity partners, with flexible participation structures.
The role is suited to individuals interested in:
- infrastructure
- AI-assisted operations
- commerce systems
- operational intelligence
- publishing and creator economy infrastructure
Market Context & Future Direction
iZwily operates at the intersection of ERP systems, financial operations tools, and rights-based commerce infrastructure. Established platforms like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, and Odoo set the standard for enterprise operations, while newer AI-native tools such as Balance AI and Seapoint point toward the next layer of intelligent business systems.
In publishing and IP-driven industries, current royalty and rights systems remain fragmented. iZwily starts with these workflows and is designed to progressively unify operational and financial infrastructure for rights-based businesses over time.
Application & Deadline
Interested candidates are invited to apply or refer suitable individuals. Applications for this opportunity will close on 31 July 2026. Early applications are encouraged, as shortlisting will take place on a rolling basis.
